Event Summary - Forest Legality Week October 17-19, 2017
Oct 17 2017
The Forest Legality Initiative, a project of the World Resources Institute (WRI), convened partners and stakeholders in October 2017 in Washington, D.C., to advance dialogue and initiatives related to the international trade in timber. The three-day event drew 180 attendees from more than a dozen countries. Topics under discussion included trade restrictions recently placed on rosewood species by the Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES); timber trade data and traceability systems; private sector efforts to source legal wood products; timber legality developments in Asia; and the application of wood identification techniques for law enforcement and supply chain management.
